Anime + Halloween + feeling that I could pull off the character + conventions.
I started out in 2007 trying to figure out a costume for Halloween when I realized "how cool would it be if I tried Alucard from Castlevania?" I had a lot of the clothes and even a decent sword. So that year I went to my friend's Halloween party and everyone loved it, but I wasn't 100% satisfied.
From that point on, I always wanted to find the perfect character to dress up as...the perfect image of a character that encompasses me and which I can bring to life. It wasn't until 2011 that I discovered how much the humanoid typhoon, Vash the Stampede, and I were alike.
I began building much too late in the year to really get a costume to do Vash justice. But in the beginning of 2012, I sat down and decided that I will really give the costume the kind of dedication it deserves. I would spend the next 5 months up to the very day of New York Comic Con 2012 planning, executing, and monitoring my Vash the Stampede 2.0 project.
Why do I cosplay? To pay homage to the series, creator, community, and character.
